Product Care

Effective date: November 3, 2026

Natural materials need a little different care than plastic. These simple habits keep your Hygreenia products fresh and working longer.

Loofah Dish Sponge

  • First use: soak in warm water for a minute — the loofah softens and becomes flexible.
  • After each use: rinse well, squeeze out the water and let it air-dry in a spot with good airflow. Avoid leaving it in standing water.
  • Weekly refresh: soak in hot water for a few minutes, or in a mild solution of white vinegar and water, then rinse and dry.
  • Replace every 3–4 weeks, or sooner if it develops an odor or starts to break apart.

Beeswax Food Wraps

  • How to use: the warmth of your hands softens the wax. Press the wrap around food or over a bowl and hold for a few seconds until it keeps its shape.
  • Cleaning: wash in cool water with a little mild dish soap, rinse and hang or lay flat to dry.
  • Avoid heat: no hot water, dishwasher, microwave or oven — heat melts the wax.
  • Not for raw meat or fish. Use them for produce, cheese, bread, snacks, sandwiches and covering bowls.
  • Storage: store folded or rolled in a drawer, away from direct heat and sunlight.
  • Lifespan: with regular use and proper care, wraps last up to about a year. When they lose their cling, they’re ready to be replaced.

Loofah Bath Sponge

  • First use: soak in warm water until soft. Use with your favorite soap or body wash.
  • After each use: rinse thoroughly, squeeze out excess water and hang to dry outside the shower when possible.
  • Gentle on skin: use light pressure, and skip broken, irritated or sunburned skin.
  • Keep it personal: each person should have their own sponge.
  • Replace every 3–4 weeks.

Loofah Wiper

  • Use on counters, sinks, stovetops and other hard surfaces. Test first on delicate, polished or non-stick surfaces.
  • Rinse and wring out after each use, then air-dry.
  • Refresh weekly with a hot-water soak; replace when worn.

At the end of their life

Loofah is a plant fiber. Used loofah sponges and wipers can be cut into small pieces and added to a home compost pile. Our kraft paper boxes can go in your paper recycling.
